Canadians sent 19.5 billion text messages in Q2 2011


Text messaging is on the rise in Canada and today the Canadian Wireless Telecommunications Association (CWTA) released some official stats for Q2 2011. They are reporting that Canadians increased the number of text messages sent in Q2 (April, May June) to hit 19.5 billion, up 8.3% over Q1 (18 billion). They highlighted June stats with over 6.6 billion texts sent, stating this number  represented over 220 million texts per day. Combined totals for the first half of 2011 now sits at 37.5 billion.
