HP StoreOnce 2900 is designed for larger remote offices and small and midsized businesses with significant amounts of data to be protected.

* It is a 2U backup appliance offering 24TB of raw capacity (15.5TB usable) using 6x 4TB disks.
* It can scale capacity to provide excellent density within the 2U form factor from 24TB to 48TB raw capacity (15.5TB usable -31.5TB Usable) using a 6x 4TB disks upgrade kit.
* It can protect up to 70TB of data in 12 hours (5.8TB/hr ingest performance) via StoreOnce Catalyst and restore up to 41TB (3.4TB/hr restore speed) in the same period

Latest Fling from VMware Labs - VCS to VCVA Converter

The VCS to VCVA Converter Appliance is the winning idea from the 2013 Fling Contest. It allows customers to migrate from Windows vCenter Server with an External Microsoft SQL Server Database to the vCenter Server Appliance with an embedded vPostgres database.

The Fling migrates the vCenter database, roles, permissions, privileges, certificates and inventory service. The target appliance will run at the same IP address as the source vCenter.

New Version of LeftHand OS for HP StoreVirtual Now Available

LeftHand O/S is the name of the software OS for HP StoreVirtual. This past week, we released LeftHand OS 12.0. Here's a list of the new features:

* Space Reclamation - StoreVirtual Storage can now reclaim space in VMware vSphere and Microsoft Windows environments using T10 UNMAP.
* HP StoreVirtual Multipathing Extension Module (MEM) for VMware vSphere - Reduce latency and improve performance in VMware vSphere environments. The MEM also optimizes data-path traffic in multi-site (or stretch-cluster) configurations.
* New REST API - Provision storage, create and modify storage pools using the all new web services based API for HP StoreVirtual.
* Faster remote copy performance and system reboot times.

VMware Certified Implementation Expert (VCIX) level

I just saw that VMware changed the old VCAP exam to now be called the VCIX.

VCIX focuses on multi-faceted implementation roles and includes both advanced
Administration and Design skills. VCIX replaces the current VMware Certified Advanced
Professional (VCAP) level and provides more thorough validation of a candidate's skills
and knowledge. Additional changes include:
• VCIX certification is comprised of two separate exams – one focused on Administration
and one focused on Design
• The VCIX Design exam will be available at more PearsonVue testing locations
• VCIX Design exams have been shortened from 4 to 2 hours. The decreased time does
not reflect ease of the exam, but is the result of the exam focusing on new topics only
and does not include those covered by prior exams
• Elite status for candidates who complete multiple VCIX certifications
Certification requirements: VCP Certification + VCIX Design exam + VCIX
